Former soldier Lamin Senghore alias ‘The Assassin’ has denied witnessing or taking part in rights violations including torture during the former regime of Yahya Jammeh.
The Assassin has been accused of participating in series of alleged torture. Then Regimental Sergeant Majors Faye and Babucarr Sanyang both alleged he subjected them to torture and other inhumane treatments. But testifying before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission Monday, The Assassin denied the allegations and even said he saved Sanyang and other officers from torture.
He testified that Alagie Martin led him and others to the Mile Two prison to conduct torture on some detainees, adding that Martin gave him the permission to conduct torture on RSM Faye and RSM Sanyang but denied torturing them.
On many occasions, the Lead Counsel Essa Faal told him that he was concealing information and saving his skin. But The Assassin, a trained jungular maintained that he never witnessed or participated in the torture or killing of any officer throughout his career.

Visibly frustrated by The Assassin’s continuous denial, the Lead Counsel warned him, “I just remind you that you have lied all through your testimony and you’re warned that lying before the commission has consequences.”
The Assassin maintained his testimony.
