The German Bundesliga makes a resumption on May 16 after weeks of a pause due to Coronavirus. The return of the German top league is great news for its massive followers in The Gambia.
The Bundesliga is the first European football league to resume amid the coronavirus pandemic. All games will take place behind-closed-doors.
Essa Dibba, whose FC Dortmund side is six points behind leaders Bayern Munich, expressed joy that he will be able to watch his team play again. “I’m so happy that the Bundesliga, my favorite league is back, “he tells The Chronicle. “Life without the Bundesliga has been so boring for me. I miss the tempo of the game, the crazy fans and star players too.”
One of the games on the day of relaunch will be the derby between Schalke and Borussia Dortmund and Essa believes it’s an opportunity for Dortmund to close the gap on leaders Bayern. “I am hopeful that we’ll win that game to move closer on top, “he said. It’s going to be an interesting game, but there’s hope that at the end of the day, Dortmund will carry the day.”
Amadou Jeng, a fan of Bayern Munich sees the Bundesliga as well organized and best league in the world. Amadou’s love for FC Bayern began in the 2001-02 season when FC Bayern failed to defend either the league or Champions League titles won in the previous season, they managed to finish third in Bundesliga. “That season motivated me to support Bayern, “he said. That was a classical season in term of performance. Since then, I’ve been following and supporting FC Bayern and will forever support them.”
However, Jeng is deeply happy that his favorite football league is returning to action. “It’s the best football league in the world, “he claims. I can’t wait to watch my stars like Robert Lewandowski and Muller, “Jeng smiles.
“I miss the tempo, pride, passion and rivalry in every match of the Bundesliga, “said Alagi Sighateh, another Dortmund fan. “The Bundesliga is the league were every team play beautiful football, knocking the ball around the flanks and producing talented youngsters every season. “Life was so boring without the Bundesliga.”
