Gambian forward Solomon King Kanform today scored a brace that gave victory to Bangladesh Premier League Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club against Mohammedan Sporting Club in their return leg match. With the 2-0 win at the Bangladesh Army Stadium on Friday, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club is the runners-up in the 13-team Bangladesh top league.
Gambian forward Solomon King Kanform scored a brace for the winners in the 52nd and 88th minutes.
This is the third time Sheikh Jamal finished runners-up in the country’s top-tier league after 2012-13 and 2017-18 seasons.
They also emerged champions in the 2010-11, 2013-14, and 2015 seasons.
Sheikh Jamal finished with 52 points from 24 games ahead of the six-time champions Abahani Limited, who have 46 points from 23 games.
Abahani, who will now fight to finish third, will play their final league game against already champions Bashundhara Kings.
In the day’s other match at the same venue, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra managed a solitary goal win against Police Football Club.
In Kamlapur, Chittagong Abahani Limited also got a 1-0 win against Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra.
In the two other games at the BNS, another third-place contender Saif Sporting Club beat already relegated Brother Union by 1-0 while Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society beat another relegated side Arambagh Krira Sangha by 3-0 goals.
