With José Mourinho set to manage A.S Roma for the 2021/2022 season, current Roma caretaker coach Paulo Fonseca says Gambian midfielder Ebrima Darboe has secured the blessings of Mourinho and will be a full member of the Italian Serie A first-team next season.
In just over ten days (from the semi-final with Manchester United on 6th May to present), Ebrima Darboe outclassed the Roma midfield hierarchy, changed the plans of the Serie A management, and solved the team’s midfield problems.
A.S Roma is now set to only look for one midfielder on the transfer market instead of the two initially anticipated. Next season Mourinho’s central midfielders will be Darboe, Villar, Cristante, and a transfer to be identified on the market.
Already in Roma after he signed his new deal with the Italian top league side, José Mourinho has learned to appreciate Ebrima Darboe, according to Paulo Fonseca. The Roma management is preparing a new contract for Darboe. The Gambia midfielder currently has a deal until 2023, at around 50,000 euros of earnings a year.
After the current Serie A race, A.S Roma director-general Tiago Pinto says he will sit down with Ebrima Darboe’s entourage to fix things immediately and ward off the sirens coming from England.
