“If you take care of your mind, you take care of the world.” Arianna Huffington. Self-Care is knowing your body, mind, spirit and its limits. The recent trend in millennials especially, overworking and not caring for themselves has caught global attention. So, here are some self-care tips for Gambians looking to tune it all out and take moments to reboot. So how about some self-loving through:
Spa Day– Alone or with friends, this is a great way to pamper yourself and relax your mind and body. The Gambia has several Spa options and packages so you are sure to find something to fit your specific relaxation needs. Permit yourself to feel revived and rejuvenated so you can bounce back and take on the world.
Picnic at a Beach– The Smiling Coast is known for its beautiful beaches and coastline. So, grab your closest gals and/or gents, cook some local favorites like Ebbeh, Namburu, meat pies or bring a grill and roast some fish/ meat or vegetable for the vegetarians out there. Sun on your skin and a cool breeze is never a bad idea. So, let your feet in the sand, enjoy a nice swim and the beautiful sunset as you let the waves carry your worries away.
Movie with a Makeover– This is for my ladies, call your girls over, put on your favorite romantic comedy and break out the makeup and mani-pedi sets.
Call Your Boys and Play FIFA– Now this writer is not a guy, nor do I enjoy soccer, but I’m told by reliable sources, and our trusted Sports Reporter that it’s a great way for sports lovers to de-stress if a real game is not on T.V.
Meditation– Most get intimidated by the idea of meditation, but it’s one of the easiest ways to relax. You can meditate anywhere and anytime, all you need is focus. So whether you take 20 minutes a day alone in your bedroom to breathe in and out, or you plug in your headphones during your morning commute and focus on your breathing, make sure you take that time for yourself because you’re worth it.
