Police Nabs Alleged Armed Robbers At Brikama

Sources at Brikama Police Station have disclosed the arrest and detention of four armed robbers.

The sources revealed to The Chronicle that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 24th, around The Gambia College premises.

They alleged that the four armed robbers all residents of Brikama, attacked one taxi driver, stabbed him in the chest and back before robbing his vehicle, mobile phone and cash amounting to three thousand dalasi (D3,000).

The victim, Momodou Alim Jallow told The Chronicle that his commercial taxi vehicle was hired by the alleged robbers from Westfield to Brikama, disclosing that when they arrived at Gambia College his vehicle was forcefully switched off before been assaulted and robbed.

“When we arrived at The Gambia College, one of the robbers sitting next to me forcefully switched off my vehicle, another attacked me by stabbing me in the chest and back. They forced me from my vehicle, took my mobile and three thousand dalasi (D3,000) I had in my possession,” Jallow detailed his encounter with the alleged armed robbers.

He added: “When they left I decided to report the matter to Brikama Police Station who escorted me to the health center for attention”.

Arrested armed robbers

Jallow also confirmed the arrest of the alleged armed robbers by the Criminal Investigations Division of Brikama Police Station, disclosing that the quadruple are currently detained as the police continue in their investigations.

He revealed that his vehicle has been recovered at Brikama Madina after police mounted an investigation into the matter, adding that one Senegalese national has also been nabbed for attempting to buy the stolen vehicle from the alleged robbers.

However, when The Chronicle visited Brikama Police Station to confirm the arrest and detention of the alleged armed robbers, the officers on duty at the CID refused to talk to the press and referred the reporter to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of The Gambia Police Force.
