The Police in Kanifing has, over the weekend, apprehended a man suspected to be the molester of an 11-year-old boy in Kanifing.
The suspect is identified to be a 25-year-old Senegalese national, according to the Police PRO ASP Lamin Njie, who told the Chronicle that the man is currently under police custody in Kanifing, helping the policemen in their investigations.
On May 22nd, an 11-year-old boy (name withheld) was molested in Kanifing on his way home from a football training academy with his friends.
Reacting to the development, the father (anonymous) welcomed the news and said he was willing to put a price tag of D100, 000 for anyone that knew the whereabouts of the suspected molester of his son. He meanwhile commends the work of the police.
“I commend the police. They have been very helpful. In fact, 2 guys were arrested before, but it was believed they were not the ones. Am happy things happen this way. I only pray that the boy can get justice because it’s very traumatic,” he said
Assisted by his parents, the 11-year-old boy revealed how he was able to recognize the suspect.
“I went to play out with my friends. That’s when I saw him (the alleged child molester) standing near where we were playing football. I immediately recognized him. I ran back home to tell my mother. She called the police to apprehend him”.
The child also revealed how life had become a nightmare after his traumatizing encounter with the child abuser.
“Some friends at school bullied me. I told my mom about it, and she reported the matter to the school authorities. The friends finally stopped bullying me. I want the man who abused me to spend his entire life in jail,” the little boy told the Chronicle in the presence of his parents.
