Palermo has reached an agreement with Gambian center-back defender Bubacarr Marong to extend his contract with the Italian third-tier Rosanero club. As soon as the Gambian player returns to Sicily, he will sign the contract extension that will now expire in 2023.
Palermo is resetting the team’s first steps towards resuming the Italian Seria D. With the preparations for a new season about to start, Coach Giacomo Filippi asked to count on Bubacarr Marong. The Gambian defender was positively reassessed by Partinico’s coach, considering that in the first part of the 2020/2021 season, former coach Boscaglia who was on the bench, had never given Marong a chance.
Coach Giacomo Filippi, on the other hand, decided to focus on Marong. In the end, he was proven right, considering the Gambian defender’s excellent performance.
After the season, the Gambian defender returned home on holidays, but contacts with the Rosanero entourage have continued. Palermo has now announced that an agreement for the renewal of Marong’s contract has been reached. The signing is put on hold until the return of Marong to Palermo.
