The Gambia Red Cross Society has announced that a car carrying joyful celebrants of The Gambia Under20 Football Team has, a few hours ago, plunged into the stream at Cape Point Bridge in Bakau, this Tuesday.
The victims of the accident are said to be fans from New Yundum, apparently returning from the jubilant parade to celebrate the “Young Scorpions” who recently won the WAFU soccer tournament held in Dakar.
The Gambia Red Cross Emergency Response Team was first to be deployed on the scene and managed to rescue 9 people. All were reported to have suffered injuries and have been evacuated to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile one person is still reported missing, according to the personnel of Gambia Red Cross conducting the search in the waters of the Cape Poin stream.
