Lamin Chatty set the Box Bar Mini Stadium alight on Monday by scoring a last-gasp goal for Fortune FC as they drew 2-2 with Elite United in their opening match of the 2019 – 2020 league season.
Formerly of Hawks, Chatty recently signed for the petroleum boys.
With the full range of his technical prowess on show, Chatty managed to have a successful debut, scoring a goal, arguably the best in the league so far. He superbly turned on the ball and fired low into the bottom corner from outside the box.
“Two experience players in Lamin Chatty and Modou Lamin Darboe added to our team is a good sign, said Jane Joof coach of Fortune FC. “To win the league, we need to blend experience with the younger once.”

However, it was a fast start from Elite United who had the first shot on goal in the fourth minute when Alieu Gibba unleashed a thunderbolt from 24 yards out, but his effort was superbly saved by fortune’s keeper.
Elite, had a chance to take the lead in the 18th minute when Kalilou Jarju met a left-sided free-kick with a strong header, but under no pressure he put his ten-yard attempt wide of the goal.
In the 29th minute, Elite United did find the game’s first goal when a cheeky back-heel from Lamin Gaye saw Kalilou Jarju in a one-on-one with the fortune’s keeper, and he made no mistake with a clinical finish to make it 1-0 at the break.
Saihou Manjang, coach of Elite United FC said he’s determined to continue adapting to life in the country’s premier league and show the very best of his abilities.
“My sole focus is on adapting to the Premier league and showing my best for Elite United this season,” he explained. “That is my focus and I want to show my capabilities and for the boys to play good football because our fans deserve to see the best from us.”

Elite should have put the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute when a swift counterattack resulted in Kalifa Jatta finding some space 14-yards out, but his shot was cleared off the line by a Fortune defender. The game ended 2-2.
