Currently one of the Gambia’s finest artists, Jizzle last weekend gave his fans a taste of his debut album, “Finally” at Dreams Night Club.
The multiple award-winning singer, real name Jerreh Jallow, dedicated the album to his years of efforts and hard work to make a breakthrough in Gambian music.
“The title was inspired by what I’ve been through from the moment I decided to take up music as a career to the moment I started seeing the results… from my little achievements to the launch of an album,” the lyrically talented Afropop/Hip Hop artist told The Chronicle.
The album comes nine years after Jizzle released his first single, “Over Sona”, highlighting the plight of the Gambian youth. He went on to release a 14-track debut mixtape titled ‘Food Is Ready’.
The mixtape propelled him to stardom and got him the Best Upcoming Artist of the Year 2014 prize at the Gambian Entertainment Awards.
Jizzle’s fans have been asking him to release and album, and at Dreams Night Club Saturday night, he teased a portion of Finally and gave the fans a sneak peek of what they could expect from the long-awaited debut full-length album.
“I saw Jizzle dig deep in his career at the Open Mic event and now he has nailed it. I am proud of him,” said Barhama, a singer and guitarist.
“Jizzle is to The Gambia what Whizkid is to Nigeria,” added socialite Dany Constant, the MC of the event.
In Finally, which has 11 exclusive tracks and one bonus tracks. Jizzle features DIP Doundou Guiss, Samba Peuzzi, Bm Jaay (Senegalese) Gee and Shaydee, a Nigerian Afropop singer.
For Jizzle, there’s something for everyone in the album. His favourite track is ‘Turn by Turn’, which depicts the typical struggle in the Gambian society.
The album will be officially released in The Gambia on Friday 2nd August and distributed online on all digital platforms worldwide on 9th August by UMG Nigeria.
