The Independent Electoral Commission has on Tuesday approved the registration of National Peoples’ Party, a new political party registered by President Adama Barrow.
Earlier in December, Barrow announced he will register his own political party while on his ‘Meet the People Tour’ held in Banjul.
Barrow who came to power on the backing of seven political parties and three independent candidates, promised to step down after a three-year transition and organize an election in which he will not participate.
Meanwhile, Barrow said Gambians have already spoken their minds and given their consent for him to form a political party.
