The Gambia’s Ministry of Health has issued a press release warning the public to take COVID-19 prevention and control measures very seriously. The government Health authorities say a rapid number of people tested positive for COVID-19 is persistent and becomes a call for concern.
This week’s COVID19 situational report in The Gambia showed an overall 13% new case increase in comparison to the preceding week’s data, with a significant increase in admission.
The Health ministry’s press release warns that “The current situation is worrisome and continues its course, the country’s response capacity will likely be challenged which could lead to more transmission and severe cases.”
Therefore, the Ministry urges the public to keep observing social distancing, wearing of face masks, and avoiding handshaking and overcrowding places to help contain the virus.
