The Gambia’s director of health services, Mustapha Bittaye has confirmed that the country has registered 5 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, one of the highest to be recorded in a single day.
“Out of the 28 test results received, five were positive for COVID-19, two were probable cases and twenty-one were negative,” he said at the daily press briefing on Saturday evening.
According to him, all confirmed cases were held in quarantine before being tested positive.
“Of these, one case was confirmed from the Central River Region (CRR) and this is the first confirmed case from that region.
He states that all the confirmed cases have been transferred to the treatment centre.
It means the country now has eight active cases, eight recovered and one death so far.
