Former Speaker of the Parliament, Fatoumata Jahumpa has been arrested by the police.
According to credible sources close to the police, she was arrested earlier today after she arrived in Banjul from Dakar where she has been based.
Jahumpa, currently in police detention, has been arrested over alleged interference with a witness of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC).
It would be recalled that last week Thursday, former army corporal, Alagie Kanyi told the TRRC during his testimony that Touray and Jahumpa rang him and told him not to mind the TRRC. The commission ordered the police to arrest the two for alleged interference in its work.
Jahumpa’s longtime friend and former political associate, Yankuba Touray was arrested by the police Saturday morning and was charged and released on bail.
