DOHA 2019: Gambia Women Beach Volleyball Team Departs for The World Beach Games in Doha

The Secretary General of Gambia National Olympic Committee Abdoulie Jallow was among other authorities that saw off the women’s beach volleyball team of The Gambia at the Banjul International Airport as they depart for the World Beach Games which starts this weekend in Doha, Qatar. 

The Gambia is the only African Country qualified to take part in the FIVB inaugural 4×4 beach Volleyball and the West Africans will battle from Pool B against Australia, Canada and Vanuatu.

An eye-catching mix of new beach front locations and state-of-the-art permanent venues have been chosen to host the 13 sports with up to 1,300 athletes set to compete for 350 medals.

The striking setting of Katara Beach, on the northern shores of Doha, will be the multi-sport event’s epicenter, hosting all of the medal events as well as the complete competitions for 3×3 Basketball, Kitefoil Racing, Open Water Swimming 5Km, Aquathlon, Individual Kata, Beach Wrestling, Beach Tennis and Beach Soccer.

The Gambia face Australia on October 12th in Pool B opener at the beautiful Al Gharafa beach.
