Darboe’s Police Escorts Bid Him Farewell as They Leave His Residence
The police escorts of sacked Vice President, Ousainou Darboe Friday bid him farewell as they left his Pipeline residence after a brief indoor meeting with him.
The ten escorts, most of them from the Police Intervention Unit were assigned to Darboe since his appointment as Vice President in June 2018. They were seen shaking hands with his supporters and sympathizers who had gathered in front of his house to show solidarity before they drove off.
President Adama Barrow earlier Friday sacked Darboe after months of rumours and speculations that they were not in good terms. A press release from State House also announced the sacking of Lamin Dibba, the Minister of Agriculture and Amadou Sanneh, the Minister of Trade, Regional Integration, Industry, and Employment. They are Darboe’s two main political allies in the cabinet.
Approached for his reaction to the sacking, Darboe told The Chronicle that he was not ready to grant any interview.
