Sheriff Bojang Jr. is an international award-winning journalist with wealth of experience across all media platforms; print, radio, TV and online. He was a finalist for the 2015 CNN African Journalist of the Year Award for his coverage of the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone. He was also a runner-up for the 2012 FitzGerald Prize for Young African Journalists, becoming “the second most prominent young African journalist” – by Reuters. He won the 2011 Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Award, organised in Rwanda by Washington-based Search for Common Grounds for his documentary on the prevalence of rape in Senegal.
Sheriff has extensive experience working with leading international news media organisations including RFI, BBC, Aljazeera, France 24, Radio Netherlands Worldwide (RNW), The Guardian UK, New African Magazine and Chinese news agency (Xinhua). He was also the head of English Service and program production at Dakar-based West Africa Democracy Radio.
Sheriff is the current President of Gambia Press Union, the umbrella body representing all media practitioners in The Gambia.
